January - July2002

Like many other English Francophiles, we thought we would like to own a property in France. Every time we visited a different region it became “the place to Buy” but once back home our hectic lives got in the way and nothing was done. In May 2002 we decided that the time had come to stop talking and that the South West was the place to look. We set out on a house hunting holiday to an area where it is reported that the weather is always warm, there is excellent food and wine and easy access from England by air. We spent ten hectic days in dismal weather conditions, covered over a thousand miles and found nothing that fitted the criteria that we were developing en route. We felt we needed a property that was in close proximity to a small town with bars and restaurants and within an hour of an airport.

Heading home, we stopped to visit friends in the Loire Valley, an area that we have visited many times before on long weekends and wine buying expeditions. We had not previously considered this area for buying our property but felt very comfortable there. A brief glance in the local Estate Agents window revealed an interesting property!

This is the picture that caught our eye in the local “Immo” ( Estate Agent)

We looked it over, saw the potential and fell in love! Our offer was then placed

Within two months we were the proud owners of: 36 Rue de Blois Montrichard.
